“Elliot Carlyle joins the NYCJW team to create opportunities for inclusion within the jewelry industry.”

New York, NY (April 30, 2019) New York City Jewelry Week (NYCJW) has named New York City-based speaker, fashion consultant, and coach, Elliot Carlyle, its new Director of Cultural Diversity and Inclusion. In this role, Carlyle will be responsible for organizing events and initiatives focused on creating opportunities for inclusion within the jewelry industry. He is onboarding as the NYCJW team gears up for its second year.

In its first year, NYCJW reached over 10,000 enthusiasts across the arts and culture sectors. With this year’s dates set for November 18 – 24, 2019, NYCJW is looking to expand their reach by broadening the scope of their programming to include celebrity panels, film screenings, and education around supporting women designers and building diversity in the field. Carlyle’s contribution to this expansion encompasses not only diversity across racial and cultural lines but also includes fostering the coalescence of fashion, jewelry, and art.

NYCJW co-founder, J.B. Jones, says, “Our mission has always been to have NYCJW be a reflection of NYC’s diversity and culture and to speak to the importance of that diversity in how we, as a community, interact with – buy, sell, and wear – jewelry.  Our intention with expanding this platform for our 2019 programming is to allow NYCJW to serve as a model for cultural inclusion within the jewelry industry not only in NYC, but throughout the world.  We are excited to push this agenda forward with Elliot Carlyle’s unique and exceptional vision at the helm.”

"I am very humbled to have been asked by the NYCJW Founders to work with their organization in the arena of diversity and inclusion, Carlyle shares. He continues, “I believe that jewelry is one of the most artistic ways to express ourselves on a variety of levels from individual belief systems, values and attitude to cultures, personal style and more. Jewelry has the ability to speak, inspire, educate and also engage conversation...but in essence; jewelry demonstrates. I salute the NYCJW team for the intention to reflect the world we live in today - which is diverse and inclusive - within their organization. I celebrate them for being bold enough to implement a channel to have necessary conversations for creatives of all colors and ethnicities within jewelry, fashion and art. I am honored to use my gift to help create this culture and I look forward to building a program that enhances the lives and careers of every person whom this program will impact."
